The Multiracial Family Circle (MFC), founded in 1991, started because a group of people found themselves in a similar situation in Kansas City without much support. They were individuals who met and fell in love. They were from different races. These couples wanted to know what was in store for them and their children and they wanted to hear it from their peers, people who had taken the risk perhaps years before. They came together to share their stories; talk about how they would make things better and different for their families. They came together to laugh and to talk about things that were important in their lives and they had fun together. Soon the group expanded to include families formed through transracial adoption, a new and growing part of MFC. The Multiracial Family Circle continues to meet every month and, while the faces have changed, our goal is the same—to support diversity and those who promote it in their own lives. The MFC is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit, non sectarian organization |
